Steps to make Modhagam/Sweet Modak:
- In a bowl, add rice flour, salt and oil. Mix well. Add hot water and knead well to a soft dough.
- In a kadai, add jaggery. Keep in medium flame and melt the jaggery.
- Once the jaggery melts, add grated coconut and mix well. Let it cook in medium flame for 10 mins.
- Atlast add roasted chanadal powder, ghee and cardamom powder. Mix well and keep aside. Now pooranam is ready. Make small balls out of it.
- In a Modak mould, place the dough to that shape and place the pooranam and close it. Open it and keep it in a plate. Repeat the process and make all the Modak.
- If your not having mould, make the dough into small balls. Make disc shape out of that balls and place the pooranam into it. Cover it and make it into Modak shape.
- In an idli cooker, grease the idli plate and keep the Modaks in small batches. Let it cook for 15 mins.
- Now it's ready to serve.
