Sajjige is south Indian traditional dessert prepared with just semolina(rava), sugar, ghee and milk. Sajjige Rotti is a specialty of Karnataka. It's commonly accompanied either with chutneys or a spicy curry.
To get started with this particular recipe, we must first prepare a few components. You can cook sweet lapsi / sajjige using 4 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Sweet Lapsi / Sajjige:
- Get 1/2 cup Lapsi / wheat rava
- Get 1/2 cup Jaggery
- Get 2 tsp Ghee
- Get 1 inch Ginger
Semolina, when made sweet, is called sheera. Several variants of this dish are available under other names in various parts of India. It is called Sajjige in parts of Tulunadu, It is also served in Europe. Sajjige, as it is called in parts of Tulunadu, is a highly heralded as a sweet dish.
Steps to make Sweet Lapsi / Sajjige:
- Roast the Lapsi with 1tsp ghee on medium heat and keep aside.
- Now in the same pan add 2 cups water and heat, add crushed ginger(not paste) and jaggery and let it melt.
- Once the water starts to boil add the roasted Lapsi, cover and cook for 5-10 mins till all the water is observed Serve it hot topped with some more ghee.
